With Cyrus’ trade mark chassis being produced in Sweden by a world renowned manufacturer of quality power tools, Husqvarna with its years of expertise in heat dissipation techniques has enabled Cyrus to produce a lot of high current power within a compact outer housing. A lot of the time it is said that size matters, and in today’s world it has never been more true, but in the complete opposite of the previous perception. With a majority of amplification available today what you are buying is a big box full of air, well actually big heat sinks surrounded by air. With the aid of Husqvarnas heat dissipation fins and the inherent benefits of a magnesium alloy enclosure Cyrus have been able to do away with this need to fill your cabinet with hollow boxes, and instead provide you with compact boxes crammed with what is needed to make your listening experience truly one to remember.

• High performance linear power supplies are used extensively throughout the Cyrus product range, eliminating the problems of RF radiation associated with designs using cheaper switch-mode power supplies

The MC-Bus

• The Cyrus Master Control-Bus system allows one touch control of even the largest Cyrus systems
• MC-Bus enables many Cyrus components to be far more accurately calibrated during the production process

From a small CD and amp system you can upgrade in easy stages through to large pre / power systems and all the while they remain easy to operate as all the complicated switching associated with big systems is handled invisibly by the built-in MC-Bus communications link binding the components together into one easy to operate system.

Upgrade Philosophy

The Cyrus family of components follows a logical and cost effective upgrade path whereby even a small system may be expanded incrementally into the highest quality stereo or AV system with the added benefit of being able to be both in the one system. The wide number of options available can match any lifestyle and if needs change there’s always an upgrade path, so the original investment remains valuable for many years to come.

Cyrus systems have the ability to grow with you; our products have true lifetime value to not only you but the environment which increasingly has to deal with the growing number of throw away products.

Demonstrated here you can see how a system that may have started as a CD6se2 and Cyrus 6XP, with the aid of internal upgrades to the higher CD8se2 and Cyrus 8XPdQX and subsequent addition of an 8 power, which may be upgraded internally later to an X Power, then with the addition of a PSX-R to each component has now become a very substantial system. Understandably this is a few dollars in the making although you still in effect have the basic CD6se and Cyrus 6XP, which is a relatively small initial investment in this level of product, the big difference that Cyrus offers is in that it is able to be grown on to create something quite amazing without the need lose much if any of their value.

Power amps are valuable in a different way as they help make the size and position of the instruments closer to real life.

Cyrus offers 4 separate models of power amplifiers that offer in total effectively 10 different stages of amplification;

• 8 Power– An under rated 60W stereo amplifier that offers superb dynamics with the benefit of being  converted with a simple switch to a Bridged 110W mono amplifier. Upgradeable with the PSX-R which improves dynamics in both modes of operation.
• X Power– The top of our stereo power amplifiers, this model delivers 70W per channel in the stereo configuration and a cool 140W in the bridged mono mode. Also upgradeable with the PSX-R to give both configurations a little bit more room to breath.
• MONO X200– The next level of Cyrus amplification, with a conservative rating of 150W into 8Ohms and 200W into 6Ohms (which most speakers on the market today are) this amplifier with its massive internal reservoir of power can deliver a massive burst output (such as occurs in almost all music programmes) in excess of 1500W.
• MONO X300– The top level of Cyrus amplification, with a conservative rating of 235W into 8Ohms and 300W into 6Ohms (which most speakers on the market today are) this amplifier with its massive internal reservoir of power can deliver a massive burst output (such as occurs in almost all music programmes) in excess of 2000W.

A stunning effect is to hear a compact set of quality speakers driven by a pair of Mono X300’s, even a diminutive pair of speakers can fill a room with a huge soundstage without the need to play loudly. While it is true that every music programme has its 'active' level, the benefit of the massive reserves hidden within the compact enclosure of the MONO X300's enables any recording to be brought to life. It's quite amazing the first time you hear this, and you are sure to hear new elements of your favourite song you never knew existed.

The PSX-R 

The PSX-R is a highly regulated intelligent power supply and its job is to feed perfectly smooth DC power to the attached component.

When you connect this specialized power supply to a CD 8se2 for instance, the PSX-R feeds the transport section of the player leaving the original internal power arrangements to drive the audio componentry. In this configuration the CD8se2 is elevated to a configuration not dissimilar to that of a separate transport and DAC at a fraction of the cost.

The PSX-R works differently in each unit but separating one section of the unit from another which brings huge acoustic benefits that are audible as improvement in resolution and imaging (and when added to Cyrus power amplifier it also improves dynamic power). Another huge benefit of this component is that it is universal to any Cyrus product capable of accepting it, and as such the PSX-R is the most popular product.

With each component that is able to accept the PSX-R, the emphasis has been not only on the upgrade it offers to that component but the benefit it offers when pursuing the next level of Cyrus components. With the transport of the CD8se being improved for the later addition of an external DAC X+ or DAC XP+, and the Pre amp of the Cyrus 8XPd being improved so that when it comes time to bi amp both the internal and external amplifiers gain its benefits.

The PSX-R can be fitted to most of Cyrus' components, and as a general rule of thumb we recommend upgrading the source components first.
